International No Pesticides Use Day

December 2020
International No Pesticides Use Day was established on 3 December to commemorate an environmental accident at a Pesticide Factory in Bhopal, India in 1984. The motto of the Day is “Pesticides are a dead-end of civilization”. The Day’s goal is to raise public awareness of the problems resulting from the production and use of these hazardous chemicals. Pesticides are synthetic chemical substances widely used in the second half and the 20th century to increase some crops. However, it turned out that the industrial production of these chemicals did more harm to the population than good. Pesticides hit not only designated targets raising harvests (which, however, was later put under question), but reparably damaged water, soil, plants, animals and people.
