The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

09
August 2020
Today the total number of indigenous people in the world is about 370 million people. They live in more than 70 countries and represent the great variety of languages and cultures. Indigenous peoples constitute only 5% of the population, at the same time they account for 15% of the world's poor. This is because, they still face many challenges and their rights are often violated. This holiday was established in order to attract public attention, and to engage the authorities at various levels into these issues, and finally to aim their efforts at the problems of indigenous peoples around the world.
