Creation of UNESCO

UNESCO is a specialised UN agency responsible for education, science and culture. It was established on 16 November 1946. Its main goal is to strengthen peace and global security through international co-operation in education, science and culture, respect for universal human rights and human freedoms set out in the UN Charter for all people, without discrimination for race, sex, language or religion. The main directions of the organisation’s activity are represented in the core sectors of education, natural sciences, social science and humanities, communication and information.
