International Polar Bear Day

27
February 2020

International Polar Bear Day is organized by Polar Bears International to raise awareness about the impact of global warming and reduced sea ice on polar bear populations. Another reason for reduced numbers of polar bears is oil exploration affecting the environment. International Polar Bear Day has special significance for five countries with polar bear populations including Russia, Norway, Canada, Denmark (Greenland) and the USA (Alaska). On this day, charitable and environmental organizations carry out public actions and hold public awareness events dedicated to the goal of the day.
