Delegates from thirty countries gathered in London to take part in the World Romani Congress. They approved national symbols the Roma people: a flag and an anthem. This gave the Roma the right to proclaim the existence of a single free nation with a population estimated to be between 8 to 10 million people spread across the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
